We have a wonderful team of volunteers at High Peak Baby Bank

Kirsty Jackson – CEO and Founder

Hello! I’m Kirsty and I’m the founder of High Peak Baby Bank!

I’m a mum to two wonderful children – they’re my absolute world and my inspiration for starting our baby banks!

Before HPBB I was a chef for 12 years, but now I am in my dream job. I’ve always had a passion for helping people for as long as I remember.

I do what I do because I believe every child deserves an equal start in life. We want to provide people caring for children with the tools and support they need to be the best they can be.

I love a good book, history and a good coffee! 🤗❤️

Carla Weir- Chief Operations Officer

Hi, My name is Carla. I have been a part of the Baby Bank since 2021. I have three older children and spent 15 years working as a SEN teacher.

Having been a teen mum and knowing first hand how hard it can be to access essential items and find a caring community I was touched by the work Kirsty and her team were doing to help families.

My role has evolved over the years from being one of the early volunteers to being the Chief Operations Officer. We provide essential items, but we also reduce waste, help combat social isolation and create a sense of community. I love the way our work positively impacts the lives of children by supporting the adults who take care of them.

Sarah Davies – Chair of Trustees

I’m Sarah and I started volunteering for the Baby Bank when my son was 6 months old and we were just coming out of the first lockdown in 2021 while I was on maternity leave. I have since returned to work but I have stayed with the baby bank as Chairperson now that we are a registered charity.

I have a passion for helping people and having my son brought this out of me even more. I love being part of the baby bank because equipment and clothes can be so expensive and there is often an expectation to buy new. We can spread the word about recycling and reusing items that are safe to do so, reducing landfill, and providing a welcoming space for families to come for help during those first few years of having a child

Abi Baxter – Buxton Branch Coordinator

Hi, my name is Abi and I have been volunteering with the baby bank since May 2023. I have a little boy who is 18 months old: he is an absolute joy although life is rather tiring right now.

I started volunteering after donating some of my little ones clothes and realised what an important job baby banks do. I now use the service and then donate the items back when I’m finished using them – it’s perfect as items that we have loved and cherished can then be used again by someone else.

I’m really passionate about the early years and making sure children have the best possible start in life – by volunteering with High Peak Baby Bank, I believe we are helping to give children this opportunity.

Laura Cooper – Volunteer and Sling Library Coordinator

Hi, my name is Laura and I have been volunteering with the baby bank for around a year. My little girl Charlotte is three years old and comes with me every week, she enjoys spending time with her friends there. I love what the baby bank stands for, reusing all sorts of items and giving them good homes to people who need them.

I am a baby wearing peer supporter and am able to teach people how to safely use slings/baby carriers. I’ve loved carrying Charlotte from being a newborn up to now and hopefully for a while yet, I’m excited to help other people learn to carry their little ones.

Abbye Lee Rumbullow – Volunteer

Hi, my name is Abbye Lee and I started volunteering at the Baby Bank in June 2024. I found out about the Baby Bank when I met Kirsty at the Job Centre Employment Fair.

I enjoy sorting the clothes and nappies into the correct sizes and bundling them up. Since I have joined the baby bank I have come out of my shell a lot more.

The Baby Bank has a nice environment., The group is lovely. Being in the baby bank helps develop my skills around working with children. It’s also lovely to cuddle the babies. I love how the room is full of laughter.

Amy Jackson – Volunteer

I am Amy, I volunteer at the Baby Bank with my two-year-old, Sunny.

I love the Baby Bank because I have a passion for the environment, and, instead of maintaining fast fashion, we promote reusing items that would otherwise be going to landfills, and I champion a resuable lifestyle. Also, growing up in a deprived area, I completely understand the importance of caring for our community and giving help to people who would really struggle without it.

I’m proud to be part of a charity that allows everyone to have an equal shot at life.

Leanne Heathcote – Volunteer

Hello, my name is Leanne. I am a mum of 2 beautiful children who keep me very busy. When I get free time, I love being outdoors walking.

I first heard of Baby Bank when a friend invited me to a toddler group ran by them. I found it to be such a supportive environment. I really enjoyed meeting other parents and the baby bank team each week. From attending toddler group, I learnt a lot more about how Baby Bank serves the local community and really wanted to get involved.

I work part time as a community nurse and decided when

my youngest child recently started school

it was the perfect time to become a volunteer. I really

enjoy meeting new people through baby bank

and love the idea of helping families within our community.

Emmy Cooke – Administrator

Hi, my name is Emmy and I joined High Peak Baby Bank in 2022 whilst on Work Experience.

My family fostered children when I was younger and since then I’ve wanted to work with children. I have always been supported and encouraged by everyone at baby bank, especially when I discuss my child loss with them. The kindness I have been shown by the baby bank has allowed me to heal and focus on my goal:

becoming an early years educator.

Some of my family and friends have donated or used the charity in the past and being able to share this wonderful service with more people is amazing!

i have become even more passionate about the early years since working with baby bank as I believe the service is making a true difference to the community.

Sherell Legore – Trustee and Acting Treasurer

Hi! I’m Sherell, a proud trustee at High Peak Baby Bank! After replacing my Mum, Carla I have been a part of the important work HPBB do for around a year. As a law student at Derby University my interest is to ensure a trustworthy, transparent and honest service that benefits families and their youngest ones!

Krish Pattni – Trustee

Hi, my name is Krish, I love being part of the local community and I’m always keen to help out where I can. Being a dad to a 5 year old ball of chaos and working in a local pharmacy, I see first hand how many families come in to see us for help, information and advice. When I had the opportunity to get involved with the baby bank it seemed like an easy choice.

Being a trustee is a really rewarding way to give back, and it’s amazing to be part of something that makes a real difference in the lives of local families.

Soraya Hancox- Trustee

Hi, I’m Soraya and I joined High Peak Baby Bank as a volunteer when my youngest child was just 6 months old. What began as a way to give back to my community soon turned into a commitment to help families facing challenges. Over the few years I have been with baby bank I’ve seen firsthand the difference a simple gesture of kindness can make.

As a trustee, I’m dedicated to ensuring that we can continue to provide vital resources to families, while also supporting the growth and sustainability of our organisation. My experience as a parent has shaped my understanding of the challenges many families face, and I’m committed to making a positive impact on the lives of those who need it most.

Important people within the wider Baby Bank Community.
